ETM Manufacturing Signs Antenna International

Partnering for Supply Chain Compression Speeds Time-to-Market and Reduces Risk for Global Provider of Museum Audio Devices

LITTLETON, Mass. (June 24, 2013)Antenna International, the largest provider of audio systems and content for many of the world’s best known museums has selected ETM Manufacturing, one of New England’s fastest-growing manufacturers, as the sole outsource provider of components for its handheld audio devices.

Antenna International devices make it possible for millions of museum goers each year to hear guided tours of visiting and permanent exhibitions. Keeping the devices charged and ready to go whenever visitors wish to use them has been a challenge, until now.  Working with ETM Manufacturing, Antenna International will now provide its customers with a robust, stand alone recharging platform that can charge as many as 50 units to full power simultaneously.

For Antenna International, finding a manufacturing partner who could manage the final assembly process, including electronics integration and functional test was essential both from a quality perspective and for economic reasons.  With the ETM Manufacturing team, Antenna International gains time and saves money with supply chain compression, reducing the inefficiency of shipping partial assemblies and component parts to multiple, discrete supply chain partners.

“Our customers expect that these recharging stations will support their promise to visitors for a deep, rich museum experience, without any glitches caused by technology,” said Ed Buckley, director of technology for Conn.-based Antenna International. “We needed a partner that would meet our rigorous quality standards and be able to ramp quickly without any loss of integrity – ETM was the one.”

The program, which includes electronics integration, represents a significant expansion in ETM Manufacturing’s portfolio of services. The company builds the sheet metal frames, installs printed circuit boards, attaches wiring harnesses and completes functional test to ensure that the compact recharging station is ready to go before shipping directly back to Antenna International. The first lot of units was shipped in mid-May and production is expected to continue through 2013 as demand ramps.

The win reflects also ETM Manufacturing’s ongoing success in attracting New England-based companies to its customer base. ETM’s custom programs for sheet metal fabrication, machining and assembly provide a local source for large companies like computing giant EMC2 Corporation and start-ups like solar mounting system leader, Panel Claw, American Innovation Research Corp.,  and AES, all designed to deliver cost-effective, high quality products.

“We’ve continuously invested in processes and systems that make our production operations efficient, scalable and able to deliver the highest quality products consistently,” said Rob Olney, president of ETM.  “Our approach is what attracts customers like Antenna International, for whom quality is paramount – and allows us to grow our business with them.”
