ETM Manufacturing Names Operations Manager

Promotes Steve Buitkus to Accelerate Lean Manufacturing Best Practices for New England Sheet Metal Fabricator

LITTLETON, Mass. (July 24, 2012) – Hired just two years ago, Steve Buitkus [age 52] has been named operations manager for ETM Manufacturing. Buitkus brings more than 20 years of experience and a proven track record in applying lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to improve quality, reduce inefficiency and increase flexibility in commodity-driven operations.  His promotion follows the company’s expansion of its sales team and reflects ETM’s continuous commitment to fueling excellence through lean manufacturing strategies.

As operations manager, Buitkus will be responsible for day-to-day production and delivery to customers, including materials management, workflow and quality assurance.  Reporting to company president, Rob Olney, he will play a critical role in identifying areas where lean manufacturing and Six Sigma strategies can be applied to improve overall operational performance and drive continuous process improvement.

“Steve has proven a keen ability to assess an operation, prescribe a plan for improving that operation, and implement it successfully without disruption,” said Olney. “His experience in the automotive industry, where lean principles were born and honed, will bring us to the next level of excellence that much more quickly.”

Prior to joining ETM, Buitkus worked for Standard-Thomson Corporation, a leader in automotive and industrial components. During his tenure as business unit manager, he built a world-class operation measured by on-time customer delivery, product quality and equipment efficiency. He was hired by ETM as quality and lean manager in 2010.
